Kathryn Chatfield – PR Account Manager

What is your role at bClear?

As a PR Account Manager, no day is the same I could be conducting interviews, writing press releases, or liaising with relevant journalists to secure our clients’ coverage. I aim to become part of my client’s team, working with them to add value and achieve their objectives.

What is your background and experience?

I studied International Public Relations and Global Communications at Cardiff University, gaining an academic grounding in crisis communications, campaign planning and relationship management, to name a few modules.

I then started working in Marketing and became fascinated with the power of a well-crafted campaign. I have since worked in PR agencies gaining experience across B2B and B2C in a wide range of sectors, covering everything from legal, to tech, to fitness.

What inspires you?

Understanding people. I love meeting new people and I think the key to any relationship, personal or professional, is building understanding through communication. Developing understanding allows you to predict and meet others needs and take that relationship forwards. I aim to take this approach when meeting new clients, to help grow and strengthen the relationship.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The writing – I have always loved storytelling. Helping a client by getting to know them and their story, taking that and crafting it into accessible and compelling copy is extremely rewarding.

I also love the variety of working in PR. You can do anything from talking at events, to interviewing key figures, to chasing down vital bits of research. It means you are constantly learning new skills and meeting new people.

Working with and learning from a superb team is also a big plus!

What do you like to do when you’re not at bClear?

When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with friends, running, or climbing. I am just starting training for my first half marathon, key word being “starting” I’ve got a long way to go yet!

I’m also a big fan of travel, I love exploring new places and meeting new people. The next place on my bucket list is Vietnam.

What does this photo mean to you?

This was under the cherry blossom trees at the Himeji Castle in Japan. My sister and I had always wanted to explore Japan and take in the culture.

This was taken after an extremely long day travelling but we were determined to go and see the Himeji Castle, climb to the top and see the cherry blossoms, and it was so worth it.
